A Well that Will Make a World of Difference in the Community
Bringing a well to Kego Orphanage and the Town of Onjinyo would allow students of the orphanage and residents of Onjinyo to have access to clean water for drinking and cooking for the first time in their lives. Presently Onjinyo and the Kego Orphanage are forced to bring in water for drinking and cooking by truck, wasting valuable resources. Rippling Waters Charity has been devoting a substantial amount of its resources to helping the Kego Orphanage obtain water for basic necessities, but building a well would help to give indefinite access to clean water and will be the backbone for the aquaponics program in development.
The First Step Toward Sustainable Food and Water in a Scarce Place
The well is the first major step in helping the Kego Orphanage and the Town of Onjinyo be able to better provide for itself. With access to water for drinking and cooking the resources previously devoted to paying for water to be brought in by truck will be able to be put toward other resources such as food.
We Have the Land and the Plan, Now We Just Need to Raise the Funds
The land pictured above is the land that Kego Orphanage has that is cleared and secured to put the well. The land will be under surveillance to make sure it is protected and safe. A local contractor submitted an estimate to Rippling Waters Charity for $30,000 to build the it. It will take 2-3 days for installation. All $30,000 raised will be put toward construction of the well itself, as administrative costs will be covered by the Rippling Waters Charity as part of their gift to the community.
